Reasons for Veganism (the moral baseline of Nonhuman Rights)
Veganism is not a diet or a fad. It is a lifestyle of compassion, empathy, kindness, nonviolence, love and respect for all living beings.
The first eight reasons are prevalent, and the last two reasons are less known.
First, veganism eliminates animal suffering.
There is no difference between our pets, “farm animals,” and us with respect to sentience or the ability to feel.
We are all conscious and self-aware. We can all experience love, joy, pain and loneliness because we have central nervous systems. We all have a will to live and want to avoid pain.
I would not eat pets or other people. I also don’t support the torture and slaughter of nonhuman beings with my dollars.
Second, veganism prolongs and improves your life.
Studies have shown that vegans live longer and healthier than humans who eat meat, dairy and eggs.
Scientific evidence now exists that proves that meat, dairy and eggs cause and/or contribute to degenerative diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes and autoimmune diseases.
Third, veganism creates optimal physical health, well being and energy.
My skin glows, my nails are stronger, my hair grows faster, and I feel energetic, happy and optimistic. My body thrives on plant nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, fiber, antioxidants and phytochemicals. My body feels clean and pure.
A high intake of vegetables, legumes and healthy fats protects against skin damage and aging.
Fourth, vegan food is delicious.
I have found delicious recipes for all meals in cook books and, rescue and sanctuary books.
I still eat my favorite foods (pizza and fajitas) at home and in restaurants. I still eat chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, carrot cake with frosting, Oreos and ice cream. I do not eat anything unless I like the taste. Yes, just like any food, horrible tasting vegan food exists and I avoid it. Most of the time, I eat whole foods so I usually don’t encounter the products that taste weird, fake or bad.
I have found that vegan cooking fosters creativity, and I can still enjoy my sweet treats once in a while.
Fifth, veganism allows you to eat as much plant based whole foods as you desire.
Plant based foods do not contain saturated fats and cholesterol so they are 100% healthful. You can eat and drink as much plant based milk, vegetables, fruit, whole grains and legumes as you want without worrying.
Sixth, veganism reduces your carbon footprint.
The most important thing we can do to save the environment and the planet is to eliminate animal agriculture. The amount of resources (land, food and water) that it takes to produce meat for humans to eat is outrageous. It takes 20 time more water to produce a pound of beef than it takes to produce a pound of vegetables or fruit.
Seventh, veganism makes the biggest contribution to saving the planet.
Factory farming of animals produces more greenhouse gas emissions than the transportation industry in the entire world.
Eighth, veganism helps feed the citizens of the world.
Feeding grain to nonhuman beings, then killing nonhuman beings is a very inefficient way to eat. If everyone in the world were vegan, there would be enough food to feed the world.
Now, the last two reasons are less well known.
Ninth, veganism allows you to vibrate at a high frequency.
I like being clear mentally and spiritually, or in metaphysical terms, having my third eye or sixth chakra open.
When you vibrate on a low frequency, your energy is dense, and you experience heavy problems, lethargy, drama, physical pain and heavy emotions. In contrast, when you vibrate at a high frequency, your energy is light, and you enjoy personal power, clarity, peace, love, joy, synchronicities and manifestations.
In addition, nonhuman beings are sentient. They have feelings, and are conscious and self-aware. In the slaughterhouses, they can smell death and fear. They know what is happening to their loved ones, and they know their fate. When you consume the flesh, byproducts and secretions of nonhuman beings, your energy, mood and spirit are negatively affected because you absorb the negative energy of their pain.
Tenth, veganism ensures I always smell good.
Apparently, a woman’s vagina can develop a fishy odor which is a consequence of a compound of decay called putrescine which is a foul smelling chemical compound that is related to cadaverine (a foul smelling compound related to animal tissue). Both are produced by the breakdown of amino acids in living and dead organisms and both are toxic in large doses. The two compounds are largely responsible for the foul odor of putrefying flesh, and contribute to bad breath and bacterial vaginosis. They are also found in semen.
Women are more likely to get bacterial vaginosis if they have lower levels of phytonutrients like vitamin C and beta carotene in their bloodstream which indicates a low intake of vegetables and fruit. In contrast, a high saturated fat intake increases vaginal pH and increases the likelihood of getting bacterial vaginosis. Most saturated fat in the United States comes from dairy, desserts and chicken.
